Did you know?
By using natural pigments in grass, soil and flowers children can paint amazing pictures.
Before the activity
Find a warm dry place where the children can be outside and have access to clean earth, grass and flowers.
The activity
Show the children the kind of coloured marks that come from nature. Earth and peat will give shades of brown, different grasses will give different shades of green, buttercups will make yellow and thistle heads purple. Encourage them to experiment by rubbing petals, grass leaves and earth gently onto their card. See if they can draw an animal, flower or minibeast etc.
