SNH Board

The ultimate decision-making body in SNH and has the following responsibilities:

• determining the mission, aims and operating principles of SNH;
• developing and reviewing key corporate planning documents, and related resource issues;
• responding to requests and directions from the Scottish Executive;
• determining SNH’s advice to Government and its agencies, including the development and implementation of Government policies;
• making decisions on site designation and other casework;
• overseeing SNH’s joint responsibilities with English Nature and the Countryside Council for Wales for special nature conservation functions at GB, UK, EC and international levels;
• ensuring that SNH operates in an open, accountable and responsible way;
• establishing subsidiary Boards and Committees as its sees fit and maintaining an overview of their work;
• representing SNH externally;
• working with the Chief Executive and the Management Team to provide leadership, direction, support and guidance to the staff of SNH.
