Part of the reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are several different habitats on the reserve. They include bog, nutrient rich flushes, marsh grassland, plantation woodland and two small ponds. The bog is the most species rich natural habitat on the site. On the site as a whole 250 species of flowering plants have been recorded to date. The lime and other nutrients which make this site so unique, provide the perfect conditions for the plants. The area is also home to many birds, mammals and invertebrates. |
