Participation is free of charge.
The organisers are the Scottish Biodiversity Forum and Scottish Natural Heritage is the principal organiser.
All entrants must be principally resident in Scotland.

The competition is open to photographers of all levels of ability.

Pictures of animals under controlled conditions (zoo, enclosure or similar) should be identified on information accompanying the entry.
All photographs must be legally obtained, with permission if appropriate.
The judging panel led by Neil McIntyre, will award prizes to the top 3 images submitted. No cash alternatives to the prizes will be offered.
In addition to the top 3 photographs, the jury will identify the top 30 images or inclusion in a gallery which will be exhibited on the Scottish Biodiversity Week website. The top images will be used to produce promotional materials such as posters or postcards for Scottish Biodiversity Week 2009.
Decisions taken by the jury are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
