The Biodiversity Action Plan

Those species for which there is particular concern have been listed in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP species); over half of these have important populations in Scotland. Whilst the BAP has raised the profile of fungi with biologists as a whole, more significantly it is raising their profile in the public eye. Within Scotland, the BAP is focusing attention on grasslands and their waxcap and earth tongue fungi, woodlands and plantations of native pine with their tooth fungi and oak-hazel woods supporting among others hazel glove fungi and glue fungi.
