About Advances
A partnership between Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers has resulted in an occasional publication series, known as ‘Advances’. Each describes up-to-date or recently acquired knowledge about the natural heritage of Scotland, for use in Scottish schools. The series to-date is as follows.
1. Scotland: A Little Piece of North America?
Poster illustrating Scotland’s origins through the story of continental drift.
2. Who’s Afraid of a Bit of Rain?
Poster together with an Information and Activities Pack on soil evolution.
3. What’s Under Your Wellies?
Poster together with an Information and Activities Pack on soil as a living system.
4. Scotland’s Land Cover.
Poster, teaching notes and data for practical assignments on the origins of Scotland’s land cover, and how it was recently mapped. A slide pack is available through the SAGT.
