4.3 Funding

This Guide does not cover funding arrangements for coastal works. However, before plans for management are pursued beyond the preliminary appraisal stage potential funding sources should be established; typical costs are discussed in Section 5 and Appendix 1. Consideration should be given to both initial capital costs and to on-going management. The latter may be of particular importance to schemes that are considered to have a lower environmental impact, such as vegetation transplanting, fencing or beach recycling. Ongoing funding should be set aside for all management operations to cover the costs of future monitoring of beach levels and dune face evolution.
