The juxtaposition of sea lochs and mountains creates spectacular scenery.
The west coast and Western and Northern Isles are increasingly popular destinations
for visitors who want to tour, walk, sail, dive or simply observe the wildlife
in a largely unspoilt environment. Tourism is a growing source of revenue.
Interpretation of all aspects of a rich but largely inaccessible marine
environment will be important in developing a sustainable recreation industry.
