Places to Visit for Wildlife and Landscape - Caithness

Blank Image

Name: Loch of Mey

Habitat type: Coast

What can I see there?

This shallow loch is superb for seeing wintering, migrating and breeding birds. Greenland white-fronted geese roost in winter, along with a range of other wildfowl. In the summer the loch margin is good for breeding waders. A public hide for birdwatching is located at the eastern edge of the loch.
