Grants in Strathclyde & Ayrshire
This year we will give over £2 million pounds in grants to organisations and individuals as diverse as local authorities, environmental organisations such as RSPB, SWT and the National Trust for Scotland, community groups, schools and farmers.
Some examples of recent grants are:
Clyde Valley Orchards Grant
Kelvingrove Museum Grant
We gave a grant of £371,000 to the Kelvingrove Museum for their displays about Scotland's wildlife, geology and landscapes. Go and see them, the museum is open every day.
- Drumclog Moor Path Project
- Hen Harrier Viewing Camera
We part-funded the upgrade of the path between Milngavie and Mugdock which was managed by the Mugdock Rangers. The path has proved very popular with locals.
In collaboration with RSPB and Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, we funded a camera that fed live images of nesting hen harriers to the visitor centre in the park. This summer was a bumper year for the harriers and visitors to the centre saw 4 chicks fledge successfully with a further 5 chicks fledged from nests elsewhere in the park.
