What We Do

We work with Strathclyde & Ayrshire's people to care for our natural heritage. This involves a huge variety of different work. Here is an excerpt from an interview with our Area Manager, Ross Johnston.

What do you do in your job?

Work with a team of 50 people to provide a better and more accessible natural environment for 2 million people.

Where is your favourite place in the area?

Anywhere on the coast, paddling.

What motivates you?

Working with good people for a good cause

What is the most important issue in your opinion that Scottish Natural Heritage deals with in Strathclyde & Ayrshire?

The low contribution that the natural environment currently makes to many people’s lives

What is the best thing about working for SNH?

Sharing a common purpose

What item of the natural heritage of Scotland would you take to a desert island?

A dreich day, I’d get fed up with sunshine

Why is Scotland special?

For many different reasons for many different people, but not for enough people enough of the time.
