Renewable Energy - General renewables Policy

SNH's Renewable Energy Policy Statement 01/02, published in February 2001, sets out our approach towards renewable energy development.

SNH recognises the huge importance of mitigating the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. SNH therefore supports the development of renewable energy as a substitute for fossil fuels, subject to a sufficient priority being placed on energy efficiency and demand reduction, and subject to the planning for renewables taking due care to minimise impacts on the natural heritage.
