Siting and designing windfarms in the landscape

We have published new guidance on Siting and Designing windfarms in the landscape. This follows a public consultation exercise in September 2008 and a workshop held at Battleby in March 2009. The guidance has been developed by SNH staff drawing on experience of windfarm development across Scotland and taking into account the views raised during the consultation. It is technical guidance aimed, primarily, at those involved in the detailed design of windfarms as well as planners engaged in strategic planning for windfarms.

Knowledge and understanding of windfarms is evolving quickly, so this is version 1 of a document that we expect to update regularly. If you have comments and suggestions please email these to Joanna Duncan.

The guidance can be downloaded here.

NB This is a low resolution version of the document for ease of download. A high resolution version of the guidance will be available here shortly.
