Research into red squirrel ecology and conservation is carried out by a variety of organisations including some members of the UKRSG, statutory conservation organisations, non-government organisation's (NGOs) and research institutions. The UKRSG, although often endorsing and providing advice on funding, does not undertake the work but acts as an advisory group to ensure that the right questions are being tackled.
