Commissioning
art can be costly, so it is important to ensure value for money in terms
of communicating the themes of the project and engendering a positive
audience response. Visitor feedback at Knockan Crag and Beinn Eighe has
been very encouraging. Formal visitor survey was carried out at Knockan
Crag in 2002 and this confirmed a high level of visitor awareness of themes,
together with numerous favourable remarks about the art works. Similarly,
at Beinn Eighe the visitor centre staff have found the public highly appreciative
of the arts inputs to the trails. The collective opinion of staff who
have been involved in the two projects is that the art installations are
a powerful and memorable element of the interpretation, and the visitor
experience is greatly enhanced by their presence. |
