This publication summarises the Scottish Natural Heritage report "Education on the Natural Heritage for Pre-school Children". The full report was completed in October 1995 with the aim of documenting the relationship between pre-school children and the natural environment and to make recommendations for future policy in Scotland. The intention of the summary is to re-present the material in a shortened form and so help to make it accessible to environmental professionals.

It contains a summary of the characteristics of pre-school children, examples of provision and good practice of environmental education for pre-schoolers, the results of a series of seminars held and the overall findings and strategic recommendations of the report.
